About the Seminary Department
The Seminary Department of BBSI exists to equip men and women for effective ministry in the local church and in the world. Rooted in the Baptist tradition and committed to the inerrancy and authority of Scripture, our programs integrate rigorous academic study with spiritual formation and hands-on ministry experience.
Since its founding, BBSI has trained hundreds of pastors, missionaries, educators, and church leaders who serve faithfully across the Philippines and around the globe. Our faculty brings together decades of pastoral experience, academic scholarship, and missionary service.

AB Theology
AB Theology
The undergraduate Christian Formation program in Theology seeks: to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural and intellectual formation of the students, to provide a basic and integrated knowledge of theology in the light of the scriptures, historical tradition and current issues in a manner relevant to the local church and other cultures, and to provide structures of learning to develop skills in theological reflection.
Tract 1 — Ministerial Studies
Pastoral Ministry
179 UnitsA degree program that provides learners with a balanced mix of theoretical and applied studies. It is designed to help learners increase and develop knowledge of their faith so they can more effectively minister within any Christian church. As a result of completing the Pastoral Studies program, learners will be prepared to be lead pastors in a local church or parachurch organization.
Christian Ministry
179 UnitsA major that aims to develop effective and efficient church ministries specialists by providing instruction, training and experience in carrying out the numerous plans and programs in the church for it to achieve its goal. This major is designed for students considering a career in ministry or missions. Additionally, this program is designed for students who might have other career aspirations but understand and desire to pursue God’s ministry/missions calling for Christians in all vocations.
Intercultural Studies
179 UnitsA major which includes studies in theology, anthropology and cross-culture communications to increase your understanding of God’s character, His work, and the diversity of human cultures. It is designed to equip you with the spiritual wisdom, academic knowledge and practical experience to share Christ effectively as you serve in a variety of cultural contexts. Intercultural Studies integrates meaningful classroom instruction with hands-on, experiential learning.
Tract 2 — Christian Education
Christian Education
194 UnitsThis program is an introduction to the educational ministry of the church. Special attention will be given to five broad topics: the biblical, theological and philosophical foundations of education; emerging neuroscience foundations of the teaching/learning process; responding to diverse needs of learners in the Church; the spirituality within a teaching ministry; and design of the Christian education ministries within the Church. Professional Education subjects are incorporated to the program.
Tract 3 — Church Music
Church Music
202 UnitsThis program aims to train students with the perspective of being theologian, pastor and musician. The curriculum will integrate Bible and theology, music studies, church music, and worship courses. These courses will also be applied to the current Philippine context. In the learning experiences of the students, it is vital to integrate spiritual and character formation, so that they grow a heart that is pastoral and become church music educators.

Diplomas, Certificates & Courses
Diploma in Theology and Christian Ministry
75 unitsA ladderized full Bible and theology program designed for college graduates who are called and intend to enter the full-time Christian Ministry. For college graduates who want to pursue a regular AB Theology program, an additional 25 units and an internship will be required.
Diploma in Christian Education
60 unitsA program offered for college graduates who would like to pursue Christian Education training both in church and school settings.
Certificate in Church Music
Non-CHEDA non-CHED program supported by a program of worship, theology, music, and general studies embedded in its curriculum. This certificate is structured to develop musicians who will utilize their talent to serve and lead a church or other related ministry setting. Students who successfully complete this certificate may choose to further their studies at the bachelor’s level in church music or worship studies.
Basic Bible Course (BBC)
50 unitsA Basic Bible program that focuses on the preparation of senior high school (SHS) graduates for college life and ministry.
Christian Studies
30 unitsAn extension program offered to senior high school (SHS) and college graduates. This is in partnership with the local church that will serve as the host of the extension classes.
Shepherdology
30 unitsA non-CHED program for individuals who are already serving in their local church setting.
